As you may or may not be aware, when Convertible Cars are out of Warranty, top Frame, Bow Links and other frame components may no longer have the alignment they did when your convertible was new. For this reason when you have a new Soft Top fitted to your car we would ALWAYS advice that the Convertible Hood be left in the UP position for a minimum of 24hrs for a Vinyl Hood and 7 Days for a Mohair Hood. This allows the Soft Top time to relax and adjust, or become 'seasoned' to the Top Frame.
We would also advise that your Soft Top should NOT be raised or lowered when the temperature is below 5 Degrees Centigrade as this can cause damage to the Hood topping, plastic window and other components. Now if at all possible we also recommend that you DO NOT lower your Soft Top when it is wet to avoid discolouration or damage to the topping or the inside backing.
Now if you are lucky enough to own a Hood Bag or Tonneau Cover, and sorry if i am teaching you to suck eggs here, they should be fully dried before they are folded and stored as they can discolour in the same way as the Soft Top Hoods but also as they are stored, often with no tension they are also prone to shrinking!
